Nice Stainless Finish

Stainless finish is nice; handles are stylish. The finish is fingerproof free. My only complaint is that the opening in the freezer door shelves are too big & some items slide right down & fall out. As for the overall performance, so far so good, but we've only had it a few months. (This fridge replaced an LG that died after only 2-1/2 years and TEN repair visits. )

Nice fridge but has drawbacks

This is a very nice refeigerator. The interior lighting and space is great. However, the freezer door is useless space. There is a big gap at the bottom of the shelves and I haven't found anything to fit without falling through. Plus the unit is not Energy Star rated so I was unable to get a rebate for the old one.

I am very disappointed with my new refrigerator. The light in the freezer does not work. I cannot get the light cover off. The pullout drawer in the middle of the regular refrigerator falls out of its track and it does not close properly. The side rails bend toward the side walls that allows the drawer to fall out.

The light in freezer

A basket full of troubles

We purchased our Maytag refrigerator a week after closing on our first house in February 2018 based on a salesman's pitch of Maytag being of great dependability and quality. Initially, we were very pleased with the refrigerator. It was very quiet and the temperature was always right where it should be. We even lost power for 10 hours after a storm ripped through our town and the ice in the freezer didn't melt enough to refreeze into one big block of ice once power was restored. It was and still is very sleek looking, in our opinion. Plus, we are happy with the shelving and space. The first issue we ever came across, while not a major one, was the refrigerator door developed a loud squeaking pop as it opened about two months into owning it. This didn't really bother me but it does bother my wife when I try to sneak a late night snack. 11 months into ownership, things went south. Our refrigerator began losing its ability to cool and stuff in the freezer began to thaw. The compressor started buzzing loudly. Luckily, everything was covered under warranty, being a new compressor and the labor. We had our smooth running fridge back! We are now 3 months past the first major repair and the refrigerator has started freezing foods at the warmest temperature setting. If you check it at again after about 10 hours, it has thawed and is now too warm. The cycle repeats. The freezer got so warm everything thawed. The problem seems to not be with the compressor but with the defrosting system now as pulling the screws from the back wall in the freezer compartment revealed a large mass of ice blocking airflow above the evaporator coils. We left it unplugged and cleaned up the mess after it had melted and plugged it back in. Two weeks of our smooth running refrigerator and the problem is back. Our refrigerator cost $1,100 and I wish it would have worked as long as one paying that much would think it would last. Now, I'll have to call a service tech back and eat the cost for him to come due to it being barely past it's 1 year warranty. I do like that it has a 10 year warranty on the compressor, but after a year you have to pay for the labor. Our next refrigerator certainly won't be a Maytag and if the costs of repairs are near half of what we paid, I'll sadly dispose of what we had hoped to be a refrigerator that would last us years to come.

Good layout overall

My old refrigerator finally gave out after 37 years. This new Maytag gives me an extra 1.5 cubic feet which I am enjoying. Have had it for only a week but I am very satisfied with this purchase. Personally, I would prefer to have some split shelves so I could put tall items on the shelves instead of the door. Besides that, the only other minor complaint I have is that the crisper drawers could be a little longer for items like carrots and celery. Really like the light in the freezer. Everything is very cold in the refrigerator which makes me happy. I find it to be very quiet like my old fridge. The only time I really hear it is when ice drops into the empty ice bin.

Flimsy Drawers

I bought this in Nov. 2018. First the doors had to be replaced because the film did not peel off. Then, the doors didn't seal, or shut soundly. I also right away noticed the middle deli drawer would often fall out of the tracks. Now I've also noticed the freezer shelf is sagging. The quality of this refrigerator is embarrassing.

Nice refrigerator. Shelf's aren't great and could be with engineer modification. When top shelf is at a location to have proper space below a 1/2 gallon of milk is too high. So my one bottle of milk fits. The drawer is great. Next shelf down has very little room. Bottom shelf has too much room. Guess if I gave up milk the refrigerator would be better. I tried storing milk in the door but the temp is not good for milk.

5 months to enjoy it

I made the order on August 2018 on Home Depot and got it on November, because it's an special order. I returned it because have a damage on the back side. I have to wait like 2 months to received and enjoyed it. Finally, after 5 long months, on January 2019, I got the new refrigerator in better conditions. I like it's simple lines and the way it match with my new stove ( Maytag too ). About the space for storage, it's a little reduced when I compare with my old one.

Overall, I'm very happy with my new refrigerator. Some flexibility with door bins and main fridge section is good, but could have really used one more shelf position section in the interior. I would have liked the awesome deli drawer directly on top of the crispers. I love the light in the freezer section! I wish the light were as bright in the fridge. Because I don't use the icemaker and there was not an option without it, to me that is wasted space I could have used. Unfortunately, the back corner of it was a little crushed and a small scratch on the freezer door was also disappointing.

I bought this over 2 months ago, waited a month for it to be delivere and have been in love since it arrived, we had no idea how big it actually was since the store didn't have a floor model but it was exactly what we wanted. Keeps food cold, sufficient interior space, but..

I bought the new model about a month ago. My prior frig was a Maytag and worked well without service for 18 years. The new one seems better insulated as it doesn't run as often. But when it runs, it is very loud, annoyingly so. The exterior is attractive but the shelves and drawers are flimsy plastic. This is my first ice maker. Would I recommend it? Yes if it ran quieter and had better shelves and drawers

Simple and Elegant

Struck by Lightning 10/2/2018

We replaced a feature-heavy, and unreliable, Samsung after a lightning strike. I wanted a machine with an ice-maker and nothing else. This Maytag has a good layout, adjustable and STURDY shelves (before our fried unit, we had an LG with really awful plastic-frame shelves, and the frames broke a lot). The door hinges and fitment are top notch. It makes a little more noise than its predecessor, but it's still more than quiet enough for us. Best of several top-freezers from several makers that I considered.

Door Problems

Love the style of the fridge miss the inside water dispenser door was delivered with a slight hole where foam molding should have went. Door was replaced and now the finish does not match. Waiting for 2nd repairman to come this week. Very noisey but hold alot plastic on inside is flimsy I was told by first repairmen this style has had problems with door hinges bending if you put too much on inside bottom shelf on door I was like Wow you pay all this money and being told that is very upsetting. Hoping I finally get a door that matches top door with no holes

Just what we needed!

Our 17 year old Kenmore suddenly conked out on us, and we needed a new one fast. This is the best we could find already in stock ready for delivery. We had severe size dimensions that also limited out choices. Glad we could get this one, and it turns out better than what we had hoped for. We had to pay extra because it has an ice maker we will never hook it up, so we cannot report on how well it does.

We love our new fridge! We decided to keep the same style fridge that we had and are so glad we did. Basically everything is in the same place as our old fridge. We really like the drawer for lunch meat, cheese etc. Out fridge is the fingerprint resistant stainless steel and it is AWESOME! Doesn't show fingerprints at all. Easy to keep clean. The handles are also so easy to clean.
